Volunteers Needed!
24/2/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We need you! There are many, many things that need to be done at our parish and it simply is inefficient to burn out people one or two at a time by asking one or two people to do more than their share. It is much better for everyone to pitch in and share the work so that no one burns out this is how a family works. This year at our annual meeting we will discuss volunteer efforts as part of membership. That is, that sweat equity will be a part of what we, as parish family members, donate to the parish. Each of us only has time, talent, and treasure to give. Everyone understands about the treasure part. We need to pay bills. But we are under-utilizing the vast storehouse of time and talent found in our parish family! Let us begin to tap into that storehouse today! Visit the web site below to learn more about how you can help our parish family with your time and talent!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
24/2/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

Annual Meeting Date Moved to May 16
23/2/21, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Our parish annual meeting will be moved to May 3/16, 2021, according to a unanimous vote by the Parish Council. We hope that we will be able to hold this meeting outside. This will be the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, which means our St. John Brotherhood will be preparing the meal, and that is always a very good meal! Please plan to join us on May 16 for the parish annual meeting. Materials in preparation for the annual meeting will be sent during Great Lent in plenty of time for all to review and prepare for the meeting.

New Furnace for the Church
23/2/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The church has two furnaces actually, and thank God for that. When the one in the back (west end) of the church failed, the other one was able to pick up the heating slack and keep the pipes from bursting and from any other damage to the church. The old furnace was replaced this last week and if youd like to help offset this cost please contact our treasurer, Mikhail Fisenkov, at treasurer@stvladimiraami.org.

Those who are tithing are probably thinking: why are we asking for help? If everyone is tithing we shouldnt have to ask the parish for this type of help. That is correct! But not everyone has established a tithe. That is OK - we are not mad. :) But this is what each of us should be striving for: to answer this spiritual question (because tithing is not a financial question it is a spiritual one). So please have a look at this page, where you can learn more about how and why, we as Orthodox Christians, should make this decision long before we come to church on Sunday morning - and please contact Fr. Gregory or any of our Parish Council members with questions:

We Know - it is TOO WARM in the Barn!
22/2/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It took us a little while to figure this all out, but the biggest problem we have in the barn right now is that it is TOO WARM! Yesterday it was about 60F in the barn. Not a tropical paradise, but pretty comfortable. We saw people taking off their coats! So - if you are staying away from the services in the winter worship space because it is too cold please know - youre working with old information! Come join us this Sunday and every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the W3 (warm winter worship) space!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

If you have sinned, acknowledge the sin and repent. God will forgive the sin and once again give you a new heartand a new spirit (Ez. 36:26). There is no other way: Either do not sin, or repent.
