Most of us attend Liturgy regularly on Sundays, but rarely other days. Still, it is good to know when we make prostrations on weekdays, and this is why we have put together this handout. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions. See the handout in PDF format here:

Invite those in Need to Lunch Every Sunday
1/2/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We invite our parish family to invite friends and loved ones who are in need to our parish meal each Sunday at 1200. As a parish we have a responsibility and a desire to follow the Matthew 25 commandments of our Lord. This is a one small way in which we can do this. Spread the word! We are happy to have others join us for lunch!

Our parish practice is to serve one cycle of Divine Services per month (Friday Evening Services and Saturday Divine Liturgy) completely in English. However, ALL ARE WELCOME at these services! Please invite friends and loved ones! Let us work together to no longer allow Orthodox Christianity to be the best kept secret in the spiritual life of North America! Please join us! Things We Sing Together at St. Vladimir's
29/1/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

There are several prayers that we sing together at St. Vladimir's. We want you to know this so that you can practice. :) That way we will sing these with zeal - with power! WE SHOULD BE LIFTING THE ROOF WHEN WE SING THESE - THEY SHOULD BE SUNG VERY STRONGLY - ESPECIALLY THE CREED AND "HAVING BEHELD THE RESURRECTION..."

Saturday Vigil (and matins during Pentecost) - "Having Beheld the Resurrection of Christ":

Confession & Communion Gudelines
29/1/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

A soft reminder that it is the tradition of the Church that we partake of the sacrament of Confession before we partake of Holy Communion. Those who live less than 30 minutes from the parish, are not very old, very sick, or very young should (and by should be mean must) confess at Vigil the evening before partaking of Holy Communion. We notice that some folks who DO live more than 30 minutes away are at Vigil regularly but dont go to confession then, but rather the morning of the Liturgy. That is just silly! :) Everyone who is at Vigil and plans to partake the next day should confess no matter where they live. Confession before Liturgy is reserved for those who live far away, those who are very old, very sick, or very young. But if the young, the old, and the sick are at Vigil they should not wait until the next morning! Please contact Fr. Gregory or Fr. Moses with questions, or visit our web page dedicated to this topic, which has LOTS of resources:

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

Do not ask for love from your neighbor, for if you ask and he does not respond, you will be troubled. Instead show your love for your neighbour and you will be at rest, and so will bring your neighbour to love.

Our Elderly Parish Family Need Rides to Church
25/1/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We do not see our elderly parish family members at church on Sunday morning every week. In fact we do not see them all that often. The reason for this is: they need rides to church. And they need a little prompting sometimes in this regard since they don't want to be a bother. It is a privilege to serve our our elderly parish family members in this way and we need to be quite zealous about it. If you can help organize or participate in this ministry please contact Fr. Gregory. There are not a lot of folks that need rides, but they need to be contacted early in the week to arrange the Sunday ride, assured that they are not bothering anyone, and they need to be picked up in a timely manner on Sunday morning. One person doesn't have to do all this, and frankly speaking, based on where our elderly live, it would be impossible for one person to do it all. We need several people to help. Please contact Fr. Gregory to take part in this very honorable activity an activity worth waking up early on Sunday morning to participate in.
