In all things that come upon me I never desire to run around in quest of human wisdom, but I always act with the small power I have on whatever it is, and at the same time leave the whole thing to God.

Scripture Reading for the Coming Week
3/10/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

"This is the cause of all evils: the ignorance of the Scriptures. We go into battle without arms, and how ought we to come off safe?" -St. John Chrysostom, Homily IX on Colossians.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Monday: Galatians 4:28-5:10 & Luke 3:19-22
Tuesday: Galatians 5:11-21 & Luke 3:23-4:1
Wednesday: Galatians 6:2-10 & Luke 4:1-15
Thursday: Ephesians 1:1-9 & Luke 4:16-22
Friday: Ephesians 1:7-17 & Luke 4:22-30
Saturday: I Corinthians 10:23-28 & Luke 4:31-36

Please find below several very nice articles on how to read the scripture from an Orthodox point of view.

Festival Parish Meeting/Report Out is October 17
1/10/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please plan to join us during our parish meal on Sunday, October 17. At that meal we will report on the festival financial results and we will seek your feedback. Both of these things are important for our parish family. Right now our main question for next year is: how can we attract more volunteers from outside the parish? Of course we would like to get more of our parish family involved, but we need outside help as the festival grows. Your input in this regard will be most welcome. And all the other ideas you have to make the festival even better next year!

If you cant join us on October 17, or if you prefer to send your information rather than speak up at the meeting, please visit one of the festival surveys below.
